Ashland, Virginia — CSX RF&P Subdivision
Amtrak long-distance trains and CSX freight roll past historic Center Street in this iconic Virginia railfan town.
Stream hosted by Virtual Railfan. Spotatrain links to the original feed and does not rebroadcast.
Ashland is one of the most photographed railroad towns in the eastern United States. The CSX RF&P Subdivision — part of the I-95 corridor between Washington, D.C. and Richmond — runs as double track right through downtown, with a covered platform and the original 1923 brick depot still standing. Virtual Railfan's pan-tilt-zoom camera follows CSX intermodal and manifest freight, plus Amtrak's Northeast Regional, Carolinian, Silver Star, Silver Meteor and Auto Train passing day and night.
What to watch for
Watch for the dramatic main-street running through downtown Ashland, Auto Train consists with their distinctive auto-carriers, CSX intermodals and manifest, and the historic 1923 brick depot in frame.
Best viewing times
Activity is dense in both directions all day. Auto Train passes southbound late afternoon and northbound mid-morning. Silver Service trains run overnight. CSX freight is heaviest on weekday afternoons.
