About this event

The Historische Eisenbahn Frankfurt runs heritage trains in and around Frankfurt am Main. In Advent it offers rides on the Hafenbahn, the harbour railway along the river Main.

The trains start and end at the stop Eiserner Steg, formerly Bahnhof Fahrtor, near the Römer. They alternate between two loops: eastbound through the Mainkai parks to the Stellwerk Mainkur on the Osthafen loop, and westbound through the Speicherstraße to the Griesheim transfer station on the Westhafen loop. Eastbound trips also stop at the EZB halt, where passengers can get off and reboard later.

The operator expects steam locomotive 52 4867 for the rides. The train includes a MITROPA dining car and green passenger coaches. The operator reports that in past years tickets sold out quickly.

What to expect

A 45 to 60 minute ride in a heritage train along the Frankfurt harbour railway, on either the east or the west loop. A combined double ticket covers both loops.

Practical info

Boarding and return: stop Eiserner Steg (formerly Bahnhof Fahrtor) near the Römer. Tickets are sold in advance online through the operator's ticket shop, which the operator strongly recommends because a seat without a pre-sale ticket cannot be guaranteed. They can also be bought on the platform or in the train. Locomotive use is announced as expected, not guaranteed.
