About this event

The Indiana Rail Experience, operated by the Fort Wayne Railroad Historical Society and made possible through partnerships with the Indiana Northeastern Railroad Company, runs the Indiana Christmas Train from Pleasant Lake, Indiana. The operator calls it a magical new holiday tradition: a round trip of about 90 minutes through the winter countryside, with a visit from Santa aboard every train, live music and experiences tailored to children and adults.

The operator sells Deluxe Coach seats and Family Packages, First Class seats and tables that include light refreshments, holiday treats and a commemorative gift, a Cocktail Class for guests aged 21 and over, and private cars. A Christmas Kitchen car serves freshly prepared holiday treats made on board by Santa's executive chef during the visit with Santa in the observation lounge, and Santa's elves serve hot chocolate aboard first-class cars. Travelin' Toms Coffee serves hot chocolate and seasonal drinks at the Pleasant Lake station before departure.

The operator says the excursion is a fundraiser run by the volunteers of the Fort Wayne Railroad Historical Society; all proceeds support local railroad preservation.
