About this event

The Mornington Tourist Railway, run by the Mornington Railway Preservation Society, runs Santa Trains from Moorooduc Station on the Mornington Peninsula, Victoria. Santa travels aboard the heritage trains to meet young passengers, and the station and train are decked out for Christmas.

The operator offers traditional daytime Santa Trains, hauled by diesel or steam locomotives, and Twilight Santa Trains in the evening as daylight fades. Seats are sold individually and are not pre-allocated; heritage compartments can also be booked exclusively. The operator says its Santa Trains have been very popular and often reach capacity.

What to expect

A return train ride from Moorooduc Station with Santa on board, a decorated station and train, and heritage carriages hauled by a diesel or steam locomotive (subject to locomotive availability and the weather forecast). Evening departures run at twilight.

Practical info

Trains leave from Moorooduc Station, 460 Moorooduc Highway, Moorooduc, Victoria (entry via Mt Eliza Regional Park). Tickets are for single seats that are not pre-allocated, and compartments not booked exclusively may need to be shared. Exclusive compartment reservations are only available on heritage carriages. Companion Card holders travel free but must still book a ticket. Online booking fees and event charges apply. Steam and diesel operations depend on locomotive availability and the weather.
