Santa Steam Express — Queensland Rail

Queensland Rail runs the Santa Steam Express from Roma Street Station in Brisbane as a day of heritage, community spirit and festive cheer. Return services leave Platform 3 for a loop around Brisbane behind a Queensland Rail heritage steam train, in restored red carriages that the operator says are more than 100 years old, with a visit from Santa Claus.

All proceeds from the event are donated to Mater Little Miracles, part of the Mater Foundation, which supports families of babies cared for in the Neonatal Critical Care Unit at Mater Mothers' Hospital in South Brisbane.

A return loop around Brisbane of roughly 40 minutes to an hour depending on the departure, in restored heritage carriages behind a steam locomotive, with a visit from Santa Claus. Festivities begin on the platform and the steam train arrives at the station before boarding.

Departs from Roma Street Station, Platform 3, Brisbane. The event runs from 9:30am to 2:30pm with three departures, each sold as its own booking through Eventbrite links on the operator's event page. Children aged 3 and under travel free if seated on a parent's lap. The operator asks guests to check the conditions of carriage and accessibility on the booking page.
