About this event

The Alberni Pacific Railway is a heritage railway in Port Alberni, British Columbia, operated by the Western Vancouver Island Industrial Heritage Society under an agreement with the City of Port Alberni. Santa's Steam Express is its festive family ride: the operator describes a heritage train, twinkling lights, billowing steam and a special visit from Santa himself on board.

The operator advertises its No. 7 steam locomotive, a Baldwin 2-8-2ST, as the engine for the event. As with any railway, it notes that motive power, schedules and fares are subject to change without notice.

The event runs over three weekends of the holiday season, with both night trains and day trains. Each ride is a 40-minute round trip that returns to the Port Alberni Train Station, and the operator lists it as suitable for all ages.

What to expect
