About this event

The Miljoenenlijn is the heritage railway of South Limburg, run by the Stichting Zuid-Limburgse Stoomtrein Maatschappij between Schin op Geul and Kerkrade. On selected Sundays it runs Sinterklaasritten from Station Simpelveld.

The operator describes a diesel train of Sinterklaas in which the Pieten take the children from Simpelveld to Kerkrade and back. After the ride, Sinterklaas waits at Brasserie Perron 4 on the station site. The programme also lets visitors take a short ride with the driver in the shunting locomotive "Köf", look into the Pakjeswagon (the Sint's parcel wagon) and the Pietenkantoor (the Pieten's office), and, weather permitting, see the model railway on the first platform. The station shop is open that day.

A colouring competition for children is also held; entries are handed in at the visit or e-mailed to the operator before a set closing date.

What to expect

Five programmes a day, each lasting about two hours, all starting at Station Simpelveld; the operator asks you to be there at least 15 minutes before the start. Tickets for children up to age 11 include a present.
