Advent-Reise in die Steiermark — Nostalgiebahnen in Kärnten

The Nostalgiebahnen in Kärnten, a non-profit association whose tickets are sold by BAHN + MUSEUM Betriebsgesellschaft m.b.H., run a special trip to two Styrian Advent markets, which the operator calls its last special trip of the year. An express railcar train in 1960s comfort (electric railcar 4042.01 or control car 6546.210) leaves from Villach Hauptbahnhof with stops at Föderlach, Klagenfurt Hauptbahnhof and St. Veit an der Glan.

The train serves the Christkindlmarkt in Leoben and the Advent market in Frohnleiten, a few minutes' walk from each station, and passengers choose at which of the two they get off. Entry to the Advent markets in Leoben or Frohnleiten is included in the ticket, which also includes the return train journey in the heritage train.

The operator limits the train to 124 seats, guarantees every ticket holder an assigned seat, and runs an on-board buffet with cold and hot snacks and drinks.

A day trip by heritage express railcar train: out in the morning to Leoben or Frohnleiten, time at the Advent market of your choice, and back in the afternoon. The ticket includes the return journey, an assigned seat and free entry to the markets in Leoben and Frohnleiten. An on-board buffet serves snacks and drinks, which are not included in the fare.

Boarding points are Villach Hauptbahnhof, Föderlach, Klagenfurt Hauptbahnhof and St. Veit an der Glan; the operator gives approximate times and sends the exact timetable and seat numbers by email before the trip. Tickets are sold in the operator's ticket web shop and the fare depends on the boarding point. Only 124 seats are available. The operator's historic vehicles were not built for disabled access and cannot be altered: it takes passengers with impairments where possible and asks them to contact it in good time. Animals cannot be taken on board for hygiene reasons.
