About this event

The Sip & Scare Sunset Special is the Pacific Southwest Railway Museum Association's adults-only Halloween excursion, billed as The Lost Train of Dr. Deadtrack. As the sun dips, the train sets off on a 60-minute journey through the Campo backcountry while passengers sip a complimentary crafted cocktail from the operator's "undead bartenders".

Then the ghost train comes to a halt for the story at the heart of the event: in the early 1900s the experimental transit car San Diego & Arizona 666 vanished on its way to a top-secret research facility in the desert, carrying scientists and military officers testing a weapon developed by the eccentric Dr. Alistair Deadtrack. Passengers board the cursed train to confront it.

Guests who do not survive the haunted train can join the ghosts and ghouls at a graveyard party with food, spooky merchandise vendors and entertainment. The operator sells Coach seats in restored 1920s vintage commuter cars and First Class seats in Santa Fe lounge car 1509.

What to expect

A 60-minute sunset ride with a complimentary cocktail or mocktail and one entrance to the Lost Train, followed by a graveyard party with food, merchandise vendors and a performance lineup that changes from night to night. Adults 21 and over only; a valid ID must be shown before boarding and nobody under 21 is allowed on the train. First Class riders have a complimentary snack bar with attendant and an open-air platform.
