About this event

The South Shore Model Railway Club & Museum says it is one of America's oldest HO-scale model railroad clubs. It was founded in September 1938 in Quincy, Massachusetts, and moved in 1998 to its present home in Bare Cove Park in Hingham, a former U.S. Navy munitions warehouse of about 10,000 square feet.

The club has more than sixty active members and a railroad measuring 40 feet by 140 feet, which it describes as one of the largest in the country.

The club invites the public to a few events each year. Its Fall Show & Open House weekend takes place in late October and, like its spring show, includes dealer tables, visiting layouts and a White Elephant Table where bargains can be found on gently used model railroad items. The club also runs a Christmas open house, a Scout/Family Night in January and summer open houses.
