About this event
Tertitten is the heritage railway on the Urskog-Hølandsbanen at Sørumsand, part of Museene i Akershus, with the train operations run by the Urskog-Hølandsbanen Driftsgruppe (operating group). For its Christmas runs the operator promises real old-time Christmas atmosphere on a steam train through a wintry landscape, in historic carriages warmed by wood stoves, with cosy blankets and lit paraffin lamps.
The trip runs return between Sørumsand and Fossum and takes about 75 minutes. At Fossum station the operator serves warm mulled wine and gingerbread to everyone, included in the ticket. It also recommends a sleigh-bell ride with traditional vehicles at Fossum station: the ride is included in the train ticket and there is time for one during the break.
Tickets are sold for each departure in 2nd and 3rd class. The Christmas programme covers the Sundays of Advent, a train between Christmas and New Year and a New Year's Eve train.
What to expect
A return trip of about 75 minutes between Sørumsand and Fossum behind a steam locomotive, in historic carriages with wood stoves, blankets and paraffin lamps. At Fossum, warm mulled wine and gingerbread for everyone and a sleigh-bell ride with traditional vehicles during the break, both included in the ticket.
Practical info
The train leaves from Sørumsand station; the museum's visiting address is Sørumsandvegen 70, 1920 Sørumsand, opposite the Fokus shopping centre, and regional line L14 (Asker–Kongsvinger) stops at Sørumsand. Tickets are bought online for a chosen date and departure, in 2nd or 3rd class. Each departure has room for five prams in the conductor's carriage. Dogs are allowed in the carriages if passengers show consideration to others. The old passenger carriages are not suited to people with reduced mobility because of high steps, narrow aisles and narrow doors. Toilets are in the small yellow building to the right of the station building at Sørumsand and inside the velhus at Fossum; a fold-down changing table is at one Sørumsand toilet and at Fossum velhus. Phone 41 30 85 98.
