About this event

Lommedalsbanen is the heritage railway in Lommedalen, west of Oslo, run by Stiftelsen Lommedalsbanen as part of Museene i Akershus. Before Christmas it runs "Togtur til Julenissehuset" (train trip to the Christmas gnome house) over one weekend in early December.

According to the operator the train takes visitors up the valley to Smutterud, where Mother and Father Nisse, the Christmas gnomes, welcome them with surprises for the youngest. The train then returns to Gundershogget station, where a kiosk and a grill are waiting. Trains leave at regular intervals from 11:10, with the last departure at 15:00.

The operator says that membership discounts and free tickets do not apply on these days and that it reserves the right to change plans in heavy snowfall and severe cold. The Christmas runs have their own fares, separate from the ordinary timetable.
