Bachmann describes its auto-reversing system (44547) as the solution for point-to-point passenger and freight transit on a layout, and this pack is the straight add-on for it. The listing says the electronically equipped track is specifically designed for the open-end track configuration of the auto-reversing system, and the Features section states that it is designed for use with the 44547. For a railfan who would rather model a line that runs from one end to the other than a loop, this is the part that lengthens such a line, and the 18-inch radius curved version (44549) is the matching add-on for bends. The retail card calls it Electronic Auto-Reversing E-Z Track, for use with Bachmann HO/On30 Scale auto-reversing products.
Bachmann's page says you can expand your auto-reversing train set or track system with this track, packed four pieces per pack, nickel silver rail with gray roadbed, and that it allows you to go virtually anywhere in your layout. The page for the 44547 system lists what that system contains: four pieces of 9-inch straight auto-reversing E-Z Track, four pieces of 18-inch radius curved auto-reversing E-Z Track, two pieces of 9-inch straight E-Z Track, two Hayes bumpers, a power pack and variable speed controller, and illustrated instructions; it names the add-on sections as 44548 and 44549. Bachmann's instruction sheet for the auto-reversing track system says the auto-reversing E-Z Track in that set is not compatible with Bachmann's other steel or nickel silver E-Z Track products, and that to expand the set you must only use auto-reversing items: the 9-inch straight 44548 and the 18-inch radius curved 44549. The retail card prints the E-Z Track System claims: the track snaps together, stays together on floors, tables and carpets, and needs no nails, screws or special tools. The listing gives a shipping weight of 0.5 lbs, package measurements of L 6 in., W 1 in., H 15 in., and a recommended age of 14 and up.
