Why Railfans Carry It

A long day of photographing or logging trains drains phones, cameras and tablets, and this is a battery sized for several devices at once: Anker lists 220 W of total output shared across its three ports, and PowerIQ 4.0 shifts power toward the device that needs it. USB-C input of up to 100 W means the bank itself is meant to refill quickly between trips. For a journey, Anker labels the bank flight-approved, although its product page gives no airline details, so check your own airline's rule on power banks. Anker also offers an app, reached over Bluetooth, that shows charge status and how power is split between ports.

In the Field

Anker lists the USB-C output at up to 140 W, the USB-A output at up to 22.5 W and the total at 220 W; USB-C input accepts up to 100 W, and a separate charging base (sold separately) can also feed it. The bank measures 44 x 50 x 147 mm and weighs 510 g. Anker is candid about real-world capacity: power conversion loses about 30 to 45 percent of the energy, so a full 20,100 mAh bank provides about 11,250 mAh to devices. Its FAQ also says that when you charge devices while recharging the bank, the output is about 70 to 80 percent of the input, and that a 5 A, 100 W-capable cable is needed to reach maximum recharge power. ActiveShield 4.0 monitors temperature, which Anker says it does over 10 million times a day. Anker lists fast-charging support including Samsung Fast Charging 2.0 and 40 W maximum for the iPhone 17 series.

Strengths and Weaknesses

Strengths

  • 220 W total output across two USB-C ports and one USB-A port, with 140 W on a single USB-C port
  • 100 W USB-C input for recharging the bank
  • Anker app over Bluetooth showing charge status and port power distribution
  • Labelled flight-approved by Anker
  • Temperature monitoring with ActiveShield 4.0

Weaknesses

  • At 510 g it is a substantial weight to add to a camera bag
  • Anker states that a full bank delivers about 11,250 mAh to devices after conversion losses
  • Charging devices while recharging the bank limits output to about 70 to 80 percent of the input
  • A hot battery will not begin recharging until it cools, and full recharge power needs a 5 A, 100 W-capable cable

Who It’s For

A railfan or photographer who travels with a laptop or several devices and wants one bank to cover them, and who accepts carrying more weight than a pocket-size battery.

Alternatives

The Anker Nano Power Bank (10K, 45W, built-in retractable USB-C cable) and the INIU Pocket Rocket P50 (10000 mAh), both already in this catalogue, are smaller 10,000 mAh banks for a phone-only kit.
