About this event

Delaware River Railroad Excursions runs The Great Pumpkin Train from Phillipsburg, New Jersey, along the Delaware River through the fall foliage. The operator says every train stops at a pumpkin patch on the way home, in a glade in front of the historic Carpentersville Lime Kilns, where children can pick a free pumpkin; it describes the kilns as the oldest and largest surviving lime kilns in New Jersey.

Passengers can stay aboard for a scenic round trip, or get off at Snyders Station, home to the Susquehanna Mining Company and a seasonal corn maze, and spend nearly two hours on site: gem panning, a picnic grove, giant lawn games and two maze games, one an escape-style Dino Maze and the other a larger maze with six check points. The mine and maze tickets are optional add-ons.

The operator says that for the whole month of October every train on the line is a Great Pumpkin Train.
