Nikolausfahrten — Sauerländer Kleinbahn

The Sauerländer Kleinbahn is a museum railway based at the station Hüinghausen in Herscheid in the Sauerland, North Rhine-Westphalia. Its trains run through the Elsetal valley.

In the weeks before Christmas the operator runs Nikolausfahrten on special days with special departure times and special prices; the regular timetable does not apply to them. The trains are decorated, and during the ride through the Advent Elsetal Saint Nicholas boards the train and gives every child a bag.

Tickets for these trips can only be bought through the operator's online order system, which opens at the start of October. The operator asks for understanding that dogs and strollers cannot be taken along because of the narrow space; strollers can be parked at the station.

The operator's site is the Bahnhof Hüinghausen, Elsetalstraße 46, 58849 Herscheid-Hüinghausen. Tickets are sold only through the online order system; payment is due immediately and unpaid orders are deleted after one week. Dogs are not allowed on the Nikolaus trips. Strollers cannot be taken on board because of the narrow space and can be parked at the station.
