About this event

The Sächsisches Eisenbahnmuseum Chemnitz-Hilbersdorf is a railway museum in Chemnitz. Before Christmas it runs special trains called Licht'lfahrten, which take passengers into the Erzgebirge (Ore Mountains) for the traditional mining parades, the Bergparaden.

The operator lists two such trips. One goes to Schwarzenberg for the Bergparade and Christmas market, the other to Annaberg-Buchholz for the concluding Bergparade. Both leave from Chemnitz Hauptbahnhof and are pulled by a steam locomotive, with a short stop at Schlettau on the way back.

The operator describes the historic special train as heated, with a dining car. Seat reservation is included. Tickets are sold through a travel agency linked from the museum's event pages, and may also be bought at the train if seats are free.
