About this event

The Traditionsbahn Radebeul e.V. is a volunteer-run club that has worked since 1974 along the Lößnitzgrundbahn to preserve historic narrow-gauge vehicles. For the second Advent weekend it sends its heritage train from Radebeul Ost to Radeburg; the operator calls it a festive Advent trip.

The Nikolaus rides in the train. Children are invited to sing a song or recite a poem to him and may then take a small bag from his sack of gifts; there is also time for a photo with the Nikolaus in front of the steam locomotive.

The destination is Radeburg, and the operator says the stay there suits a visit to the Radeburg Zille Christmas market held on the same weekend. The train is expected to be hauled by the green Saxon IV K No. 176 with a mixed set of carriages from different eras of Saxon narrow-gauge history.

The club's heritage train runs on selected days of the year. The operator says its vehicles, built between 1892 and 1927, have been restored to the condition in which they were delivered.
