About this event

The "Bewirtete Lichterfahrt mit Pfiff" is a themed evening steam train of the Fichtelbergbahn, run by SDG Sächsische Dampfeisenbahngesellschaft. The operator invites passengers to a steam ride through the "Christmas land" of the Ore Mountains (Erzgebirge) with Christmas Ore Mountain delicacies, mulled wine and a hearty cold platter, and promises illuminated Schwibbogen (candle arches) to enjoy from the train.

The trip starts and ends at Kurort Oberwiesenthal station and runs to Cranzahl and back, taking about 2¾ hours. Catering is included in the ticket: on the outward journey stollen or pastry with a coffee and mulled wine, grog or children's punch; on the return a platter of sausage and cheese with a drink. Smaller children get their own, simpler menu. Every passenger takes home an exclusive SDG mulled-wine mug.

The operator notes that a vegetarian alternative can only be offered if requested in good time, and that alcohol is not served to minors.
