Zie ginds komt de stoomtrein — Stoomtrein Maldegem-Eeklo

Stoomtrein Maldegem-Eeklo is a heritage railway in the Meetjesland region of East Flanders that runs historic steam and diesel trains from its station site in Maldegem. Under the title "Zie ginds komt de stoomtrein" (the first words of a well-known Dutch Sinterklaas song) it welcomes Sinterklaas for a series of Sinterklaas trains.

The operator promises a real steam train journey with the Sint and his Pieten, cheerful entertainment, a personal meeting with Sinterklaas and a full gift bag for every child. Parents can relax with a warm drink in the heated train.

Each ride starts at the operator's station site in Maldegem, with a photo moment in Eeklo along the way, and returns to Maldegem.

The doors open at 1 pm and Sinterklaas arrives at 1:45 pm; the afternoon train leaves Maldegem at 2:15 pm, with a photo moment in Eeklo. Expect animation by the Pieten, sweets, a personal meeting with Sinterklaas, a gift bag for each child aged 2 to 12 and a warm drink for the parents in the heated train. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Departure and arrival at the operator's station site, Stationsplein 8, 9990 Maldegem. Booking and prepayment online is compulsory for organisational reasons; tickets are e-mailed and scanned at the entrance. Tickets are not refunded, and rebooking is only possible in exceptional circumstances because of train capacity. A gift bag adapted for allergens is available for a small supplement. If you cannot come, the gift bags can be collected at the railway after the ride. Other discounts are not valid for this event.
