About this event

Timeline Events offers a return visit to the Mid-Suffolk Light Railway at Brockford Station near Stowmarket for two days of steam photography, each day sold as its own ticket. The star is the recently overhauled Y7 Class 0-4-0T No. 985, returning to traffic in British Railways unlined black livery as No. 68088, paired with the railway's vintage coaches and goods stock.

The organizer says the event will mostly concentrate on the railway itself, with perhaps one or two period vehicles and a few period passengers to pose when rail activity is quiet. It adds that this will be the first charter able to use the line's new extension, which is now cleared for traffic.

Because Brockford Station and its surroundings are fairly tight for locations, the number of people each day is limited to keep conditions comfortable. Free parking is available on site, although cars parked right next to the station fence may be asked to move if they appear in shots.

What to expect

A full day of steam photography with the Y7 locomotive and vintage passenger and goods stock in a tranquil branch line setting. All levels of photographic knowledge are welcome and the fitness level required is low. Bring a camera, spare batteries, lenses and lens cloths, sturdy outdoor shoes and warm clothing.
