Railcam UK's camera 1 at North Weald on the Epping Ongar Railway, facing Ongar — the preserved country end of what was once London Underground's Central Line.

About this cam

The Epping Ongar Railway is the surviving six miles of what was, until 1994, the far country end of London Underground's Central Line — electric tube stock ran through fields to Ongar. Today the line is preserved, and North Weald station, with its signal box and its long passing loop, is where the operation is based. Railcam UK streams four cameras at North Weald, and describes each by the direction it points. This one, the operator writes, is "facing Ongar". The streams are branded with the railway's own logo and Railcam directs viewers to the railway for timings: "For Timetables, events and Information please visit https://www.eorailway.co.uk/". Railcam states it runs "over 100 live streaming cameras on the UK Mainline and Heritage Railways".

What to watch for

Heritage diesels and steam on a line that still looks like a London Underground branch — North Weald keeps its Great Eastern signal box and semaphores, and the passing loop makes it the crossing point for a two-train service. On non-running days the four cameras still show the yard, the stabled stock and the shunting.
