About this event

The Waterloo Region Model Railway Club (WRMRC) is a 2,000 square foot, HO-scale (1:87) miniature recreation of the Canadian Pacific Railway's Sudbury Division as it appeared and operated during the 1970s.

The club describes a multi-level "mushroom" layout over two floors, with tracks interconnected by helices; track arrangements in the modelled towns that closely duplicate the prototype locations; locomotives and rolling stock that match the equipment that operated in northern Ontario in the 1970s; and long freight trains running over handlaid track powered by NCE Digital Command Control. The club says the layout is still under construction, so visitors can see work in progress.

The club is in a quonset hut about one kilometre north of the village limits of Maryhill, on Maryhill Road (Woolwich Township Road 56). It also opens its layout to the public in spring as part of the Doubleheaders Layout Tour and at the end of August for the Waterloo Railway Expo.
