Barra Mansa, Rio de Janeiro — Railway at Km 149

This camera looks down over a curving freight yard in Barra Mansa, in the Paraiba do Sul valley of Rio de Janeiro state, Brazil. The tracks belong to MRS Logistica, the freight railway that operates the historic Rio-Sao Paulo trunk line -- the former Estrada de Ferro Central do Brasil's Ramal de Sao Paulo, opened through this valley in 1871.

The operator's own caption places the camera at "Km 149" of the line, and a viewer in the live chat describes it as facing toward Volta Redonda, with "trens siderurgicos" (steel-industry trains) among the regular traffic. That description, the yard's curving multi-track layout, and the mixed hopper/gondola/container traffic visible in the feed are all consistent with the rail-served ArcelorMittal Barra Mansa steelworks, in the city's Saudade district -- a long-products plant that began as the Barra Mansa Steelworks (Votorantim, 1937) and passed to ArcelorMittal in 2018.
