About this cam
This static camera is hosted by the Gallup Cultural Center, housed on the second floor of the historic 1920s Santa Fe Depot on Route 66 in downtown Gallup, New Mexico. It looks west along BNSF's Gallup Subdivision, part of BNSF's Southern Transcon main line between Los Angeles and Chicago.
A companion static camera at the same building faces east (see "Gallup, New Mexico — East Camera"); together they cover both directions of the multi-track main line and station platform.
Gallup is an active Amtrak stop for the Southwest Chief (Train #3 westbound, Train #4 eastbound) between Los Angeles and Chicago, in addition to heavy BNSF freight traffic.
What to watch for
BNSF freight on one of the busiest stretches of the Southern Transcon, and Amtrak's Southwest Chief (#3/#4) calling at the platform. The operator's integrated radio feed monitors 160.650 MHz (AAR 36, road channel) and 160.470 MHz (AAR 24, yard channel) for the Gallup area.
