The operator mutes the camera's own microphone and carries railroad radio instead — the Boone Subdivision road channel, AAR 52 (160.890 MHz), which it describes as an extremely long-range feed covering most of the Boone Sub.
The operator places the site at milepost 251 of Union Pacific's Boone Subdivision, which runs between Missouri Valley and Boone, Iowa, and was previously the Chicago & North Western's West Iowa Subdivision. It says 20 to 35 trains a day pass here, down from at least 60 a day in earlier years.
