About this event

The Brohltalbahn, marketed as the Vulkan-Expreß, runs its Nikolausfahrten from the Brohltalbahnhof in Brohl as a special event with its own page, its own dates and its own ticket. The operator describes a festively decorated, warmly heated narrow-gauge train making a trip of about one hour through the winter Brohl valley; the round trip from Brohl takes about two hours.

St. Nicholas waits with his gift sack for the arriving train, waves to it, greets each child personally and gives each one a generously filled Nikolaustüte (treat bag). The operator says the trains are pulled by its nearly 120-year-old steam locomotive 11sm, while the extra trains on the second Advent weekend run with a historic diesel locomotive; on those days the steam locomotive can be seen at the passing point in Burgbrohl.

Registration is required. The operator says the trains run only at the listed departure times and that its events take place only if enough people have registered in advance.
