Száncsengő Expressz Budapest–Vác — MÁV Nosztalgia

The Száncsengő Expressz ("Sleigh-bell Express") Veresegyház–Vác is an afternoon heritage Santa train run by MÁV Nosztalgia (brand MRT). The operator announces that Santa calls on the legendary No. 424 steam locomotive instead of his reindeer. The train leaves Budapest-Nyugati and runs via Veresegyház to Vác; the operator stresses that this ticket is a one-way journey to Vác.

A vintage buffet car is open throughout. Children can take part in an optional, limited-number "Exclusive meeting with Santa": Santa travels in a separate carriage where children receive a gift pack and can be photographed with him. In Vác, passengers can walk from the station to the town's Advent fair on their own.

The way back is a separate one-way train from Vác to Budapest-Nyugati the same evening, sold on its own at the same fares (draft timetable: leaves Vác 18:09, arrives Budapest-Nyugati 19:05).

A short one-way heritage ride of roughly an hour and a half from Budapest-Nyugati to Vác behind a steam locomotive, with the vintage buffet car open. Children can book a meeting with Santa in his own carriage. In Vác everyone is free to visit the town's Advent fair on foot from the station. The return journey from Vác is a separate one-way ticket.

Boards at Budapest-Nyugati; calls at Rákospalota-Újpest, Fót, Veresegyház, Őrbottyán and Vácrátót before Vác. Tickets are valid for one-way travel between Budapest and Vác only. Fares are the same wherever you board or alight, and the child fare is for ages 4 to 14 (under 4 travel free, without a seat). The Santa meeting is an extra, sold with the train ticket and limited in number. The operator asks passengers to be at the station 15 minutes before any departure and says the timetable cannot be changed for latecomers.
