Advent Expressz Bécs — MÁV Nosztalgia

The Advent Expressz Bécs ("Advent Express Vienna") is a one-day special train from Budapest-Nyugati to Wien Westbahnhof and back, run by MÁV Nosztalgia (brand MRT) as one of its "MRT Express" experience trains. It leaves early in the morning and also takes passengers at Budapest-Kelenföld, Tatabánya and Győr. The operator keeps the dining cars and the bar car open all day. Passengers choose from several classes of carriage, including Standard cars with four-seat boxes, a Comfort class in a dining car used as a seating car, without food or service, and Panorama and Residence classes at higher prices.

In Vienna the operator offers optional extras: a guided city walk with audio guides, a horse-drawn carriage ride and a sightseeing tour on a vintage tram ending near the Wiener Christkindlmarkt by the Rathaus. The rest of the time in Vienna is free time on your own until the train returns.

A full-day return rail trip to Vienna for the Advent season: the train leaves Budapest early in the morning and returns late in the evening, with the dining cars and bar car open throughout and an on-board guide. In Vienna, free time on your own or optional guided programmes. Everyone must find their own way back to the train after the optional programmes.

A valid passport or ID card allowing border crossing is required, and the operator recommends travel insurance. The operator asks passengers to be back at the station at least 15 minutes before the train leaves Vienna. Child fares apply from age 4 to 14; younger children travel free but without a seat. Optional programmes are paid on top of the fare and some have minimum numbers.
