About this event

The National Railroad Museum in Green Bay, Wisconsin, runs The Great Pumpkin Train as a two-day, family-friendly celebration of the fall season. The operator describes each admission as including a train ride to the museum's pumpkin patch, where every visitor can pick a pumpkin to take home.

The ticket also covers indoor stage entertainment and balloons, crafts such as a spooky name badge, Venus flytrap puppets and pipe cleaner spiders, a coloring contest, trick-or-treating throughout the museum grounds, games for children of all ages, a "Not-So-Scary Haunted House", a chance to operate the museum's vintage handcar and a daily costume parade. Food and drink are on sale, and the operator says proceeds support the museum's programs and operations.

Visitors choose the date, train car and ride time when they book. The operator offers two enclosed cars: a single-level coach with bus-style seating that is ADA accessible, and a double-level coach, also with bus-style seating, that is not. The ticket buys a ride at the selected time, but guests may take part in the other activities at any point in the day, and the museum's historic trains and exhibits can be explored as well.

What to expect

A train ride to the pumpkin patch at the time you choose, where you pick a pumpkin to take home, then a day of activities on the museum grounds: stage entertainment, crafts, a coloring contest, trick-or-treating, games, a not-so-scary haunted house, a vintage handcar and costume parades. Food and drink are available to buy.
