Tavern League of Railfans watches Canadian National's Fox River Subdivision at milepost 242.9 from The Depot Restaurant, 200 Dousman Street in Green Bay — a building that was the Chicago & North Western's Green Bay depot. CN trains and Fox Valley & Lake Superior locals pass in frame.

About this cam

Tavern League of Railfans operates this camera from The Depot Restaurant at 200 Dousman Street in Green Bay, at milepost 242.9 on Canadian National's Fox River Subdivision. The building is the former Chicago & North Western Green Bay depot, which is why the restaurant carries the name. The operator explains the geography: the camera faces south, so trains moving towards the lens are northbound, heading into CN's Green Bay Yard, and trains moving away are southbound for Wrightstown, Appleton and Neenah, the Howard Spur, or the Fox Valley & Lake Superior to Denmark. Alongside CN trains, the camera catches a couple of Fox Valley & Lake Superior (reporting mark FOXY) locals. A radio feed is mixed into the stream, monitoring 160.335 (AAR 015) for the Manistique Sub, 160.785 (AAR 045) for the Fox River Sub and 161.250 (AAR 076) for Green Bay Yard. The operator adds a local detail worth knowing: the Donald Driver "Receiver" statue stands on the right side of the frame.

What to watch for

Canadian National road freight into and out of Green Bay Yard is the backbone, but the Fox Valley & Lake Superior locals are the ones to wait for — a short line with its own power, running to Denmark, Wisconsin. Because the camera faces south, direction is easy to read: towards the lens means northbound into the yard. The three monitored channels let you tell a Fox River Sub move from a yard job before it appears. And the old Chicago & North Western depot building is itself the vantage point.
