The geography behind that sentence is worth knowing. Slinger sits at milepost 122.6 of CN's Waukesha Subdivision, a former Wisconsin Central line CN acquired in 2001. The Wisconsin & Southern — a Watco regional — has no continuous track of its own between its two divisions; as Wikipedia records, "trackage rights over a short section of Canadian National's Waukesha Subdivision from Waukesha to Slinger provide a link between the two divisions." Slinger is where those rights begin. The physical car interchange between the two railroads happens further south, at Ackerville.
