About this event
The Oil Creek & Titusville Railroad runs its Santa Trains from Perry Street Station in Titusville, Pennsylvania. The operator, the nonprofit Oil Creek Railway Historical Society, describes a festive ride through the Oil Creek Valley with Santa Claus on board: he visits each child, takes time for photographs and gives a small gift to children 12 and under.
The operator lists sing-alongs with its Jolly Carolers during the ride and complimentary hot chocolate and cookies at Perry Street Station when the train returns. The station also has a train shop for railroad-themed gifts.
The operator stresses that this is a special event built around holiday fun for children, and that the Oil Boom history told on its regular excursions is not part of the ride. It sells Coach seats and, on some departures only, First Class seats.
What to expect
A round trip of approximately three hours from Perry Street Station, with sing-alongs, a visit from Santa to each child with photo time and a small gift for children 12 and under, then hot chocolate and cookies at the station on return. The operator asks passengers to dress for the weather: the station and the coach cars have limited heat and the coaches have no air conditioning.
Practical info
Boards at Perry Street Station, 409 S Perry St, Titusville, Pennsylvania (the Franklin Street address on the operator's site is a mailing address only; the train does not leave from there). The operator asks passengers to arrive at least one hour before departure. The station museum, gift shop and concessions open at 10 am. Reservations are taken by phone (814-676-1733), by email or by a printable reservation form sent back by email, fax or mail; there is no online booking and no e-tickets, and the operator warns that anyone selling e-tickets is a scam. Advance reservations are not accepted after 2 pm on the Friday before the ride, and tickets are non-refundable. The operator reserves the right to cancel a ride for reasons beyond its control.
