About this event

The Stourbridge Line runs the Santa Christmas Tree Express from Honesdale Station in northeastern Pennsylvania. The operator describes a two-hour round-trip excursion with a layover: passengers ride in heated coaches to a private Christmas venue, step off the train to visit Santa and friends, and have about an hour to enjoy the Christmas wonderland.

At the venue the operator lists complimentary hot chocolate and Christmas activities, with a food vendor on site selling concessions for cash only. Guests can also choose a Christmas tree: the trees are sold separately by a vendor, priced individually by size and variety, and wreaths and potted trees are also available. The operator's crew bales and tags a purchased tree and loads it on the train, then unloads it at the Honesdale platform for easy loading into a car.

The railroad also sells dinner, foliage and pumpkin excursions; this event is its family Christmas excursion departing from Honesdale. The operator lists a separate Christmas excursion departing from Hawley, which is not covered here.
