Mikulášské vláčky v Ostravě — Slezský železniční spolek

The Slezský železniční spolek (Silesian Railway Society), a railway association based in Těrlicko, runs extra "Mikulášské vláčky", St Nicholas trains, from Ostrava střed station. The society's booking calendar describes a trip to Havířov and back of about an hour.

Mikuláš and his entourage walk through the train, and children who recite a poem or sing a song receive a small gift. The train is decorated with special lighting, refreshments for children and adults are available on board, brought round through the train, and the society's accordion players ("heligonkáři") lead the singing of Christmas carols.

Boarding is possible only at Ostrava střed station, and the fare covers the return journey. Tickets are sold in advance through the society's online booking system. The society's Christmas trains from the same station are a separate offer with different dates and fares.

A round trip of just under an hour on a decorated train to Havířov and back. Mikuláš and his entourage walk through the carriages, children receive a small gift in exchange for a poem or a song, small refreshments are brought round through the train and accordion players lead Christmas carols.
