Alishan, Chiayi — Forest Railway Track at the Ecological Education Center

The agency's own page for the national forest area lists this live image as taken "in front of the Alishan Ecological Education Center" and provided by the Forestry and Nature Conservation Agency. The stream description tells the story of the line: an industrial railway laid in the Japanese period to extract timber, with a main line and branches, climbing from Chiayi at 30 m through tropical, warm and temperate forest to Alishan station at 2,216 m.

Visitors can also ride the Zhushan line at dawn to Zhushan station, at 2,451 m the highest station in Taiwan, to watch the Alishan sunrise. The camera looks at a single stretch of the narrow-gauge track in the forest; at night the picture is black.
