Virtual Railfan's Cocoa cameras look out on the Florida East Coast Railway, a Class II railroad owned by Grupo México, at milepost 173.06 in Brevard County. This is the Space Coast — Cape Canaveral is a short distance east — and the FEC main line runs the length of Florida's Atlantic seaboard between Jacksonville and Miami. The operator gives the traffic figures directly: 10 FEC freight trains and 32 Brightline passenger trains a day. Brightline is the privately run higher-speed service linking Miami, Fort Lauderdale, West Palm Beach and Orlando, and it uses the FEC alignment through Cocoa, so passenger movements considerably outnumber freight here. Two fixed views are published, one facing north and one facing south, both free. The host is Panther Airboats, an airboat tour operator, which has carried the cameras since 16 December 2020. The stream monitors 160.530 MHz (AAR 30), the Florida East Coast road channel, and the operator maintains a public train log.
What to watch for
Brightline is the reason to watch: bright yellow, blue, pink, green and orange Siemens Charger locomotives in five named liveries, running fast and often. Between them come Florida East Coast freights — FEC keeps a distinctive roster and its trains carry aggregate, intermodal and general merchandise up and down the coast. The two fixed cameras give you a choice of direction, so you can pick the side a train will approach from. Brightline's own public tracker, linked by the operator, tells you when the next passenger movement is due.
