Rock Island, Illinois — Government Bridge at Lock and Dam 15

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Rock Island District, runs this camera at the downstream end of Locks and Dam 15 on the Mississippi River, between Rock Island, Illinois and Davenport, Iowa. In the Corps' words, "The Government Bridge (also known as the Arsenal Bridge) can also be seen. This bridge includes a swing span that opens and closes each time a tow passes through the lock."

The Government Bridge is a double-deck railroad and road bridge. The federal railroad bridge inventory lists its swing span over the Mississippi as a moveable bridge on the Iowa City subdivision. From the camera the whole truss spans the frame, with the swing span and its control house in the middle.
