Springfield, Missouri — Pythian Street Crossing

BNSF's Thayer North Subdivision starts at Springfield Yard and heads south toward Thayer, Missouri and on to Memphis, Tennessee — a route with roots in the Frisco (St. Louis–San Francisco Railway) and, later, Burlington Northern. This camera, MOKAN Railcams' original installation dating to September 2023, looks at the Pythian Street grade crossing a few miles south of the yard, near Milepost 204.70 — early enough on the subdivision that a second train often follows close behind the first.

Sponsored by Ryan Lawn & Tree, the camera shows coal, manifest, grain, intermodal and occasional unit trains — steel, pipe or automobiles — moving through Springfield at a rate the operator puts at 20 to 30 a day.
