About this event
The Bredgar & Wormshill Light Railway, a heritage railway supported by volunteers at The Warren near Sittingbourne in Kent, holds its Christmas Special on a few days in December. The operator describes climbing aboard a steam train at Warren Wood Station and riding through the fields into a woodland transformed for Christmas.
In the Christmas Woodland there are festive lights, Christmas music, crafts to make and take home, games and a Christmas Treasure Trail with a small prize, and a warming open fire. The operator says the train ticket includes unlimited steam train rides through the visit, and that the Engine Shed and Museum can be viewed from a designated area.
A visit to Father Christmas in the Woodland Grotto is not part of the train ticket and is booked separately, with a named gift for each child. The operator describes it as an outdoor event: the woodland is likely to be wet and muddy.
What to expect
Steam train rides (about five minutes each way) to the Christmas Woodland, where the operator offers festive lights and music, crafts, games, a treasure trail and an open fire. Refreshments are sold in the woodland. Father Christmas's grotto is booked separately. It is an outdoor event: warm clothing, waterproofs and sensible footwear are recommended.
