About this event

The Severn Valley Railway runs its Carol Trains as an evening event. The operator describes a musical journey by heritage train in the dark from Kidderminster to a Christmas concert among its locomotives at The Engine House, Highley, with musicians from across Shropshire and Worcestershire singing songs from across the eras.

The evening starts on the concourse at Kidderminster station, which is filled with Christmas classics, before boarding the Carol Train for more singing on board. At Highley passengers leave the train for a short walk of about 200 metres to The Engine House, where the choir, and sometimes a band, lead the singing again. A steam train takes passengers back to Kidderminster at the end of the night.

Each passenger has a glass of mulled wine and a mince pie at The Engine House. Kidderminster station has an award-winning pub, The King & Castle, which serves hot and cold food before the trip.

What to expect
