New Year's Day. Unlimited rides on the demonstration lines when trains run; steam running is not guaranteed.

From £11 (as published by the operator)

About this event

Didcot Railway Centre invites visitors to see the New Year in with steam: steam trains operate on at least one of the Centre's two demonstration lines and ticket holders can take unlimited rides. On many days the second line also runs and may feature a diesel railcar, a heritage diesel locomotive or a small branch line steam engine.

The admission ticket also covers the 1932 Engine Shed, the carriage and wagon display, Brunel's broad gauge railway, the Signalling Centre, a WWII shelter with an air raid experience, the museum and the road transport hangar. The Centre has an outdoor play area, refreshment rooms and a gift shop.

The operator warns that steam running is not guaranteed: a diesel may replace the steam engine at short notice. The event is a separate listing from the Centre's Steam Into Christmas.

What to expect

Unlimited rides on the demonstration lines when steam trains are running, plus entry to the engine shed, museum, signalling centre and other displays. The operator says steam running is not guaranteed and a diesel may replace the steam engine.
