About this event

THE POLAR EXPRESS™ Train Ride London departs from London Euston Station and brings guests back to Euston afterwards, so no onward travel arrangements are needed. The event site says it is licensed by Rail Events International and operated and managed by PNP Events Ltd, and that London Euston is one of the newest locations to host the ride.

The operator describes a fully immersive theatrical production based on the film. The Conductor calls "All aboard", chefs help guests to their seats, the train pulls away from the platform and performers bring songs and scenes to life, with characters including the Chefs, the Conductor and a mysterious ghost. Guests are served hot chocolate and a cookie, and Santa, whom the operator calls Mr C, appears in the carriage and gives children the first gift of Christmas, a silver sleigh bell, with his Elf making sure the grown-ups get theirs too.

The operator says the event runs on the mainline, so Network Rail schedules can change booked times by up to an hour either way, and that guests are on board for about an hour. Carriages are from heritage stock and all differ, with seating around tables of four or in pairs, so a party may share a table.

What to expect

About one hour on board, and usually 1 hour 30 minutes to 2 hours in total including the gift shop. The time on your ticket is when the experience starts, not when the train departs. The operator encourages pyjamas and robes; as the event is partly outdoors it asks for a warm coat, a brolly and sturdy shoes, and no slippers.

Practical info

Departs from London Euston Station, Euston Road, London NW1 2RT; guests return to Euston after the ride and follow the arrival and check-in instructions on their e-ticket. Pushchairs and car seats are not allowed on board; marshals look after them on the platform. Pets are not allowed (assistance animals welcome after contacting customer services). Tickets are sold online only and e-tickets are emailed 14 days before the visit. The operator does not offer cancellations, refunds or reschedules (it refunds only if it cannot run the event), gives no refund to guests who miss the train, and says the event runs in rain or snow. Text messages are sent if the event is cancelled; other updates arrive by email.

Does the train move or is it stationary?▾
The operator says the train does move, with about an hour on board. For technical or mechanical reasons it may need to make operational changes at short notice, including running the show on a static train.

Pyjamas and robes, as in the film. As the event is in winter and partly outdoors, the operator asks for a warm coat, a brolly and sturdy shoes, not slippers.
