About this event

The South Carolina Railroad Museum in Winnsboro runs its Pumpkin Patch Express on the two Saturdays before Halloween each year. Riders board the train for a three-mile trip to the museum's pumpkin patch, where the train stops at the Greenbriar pavilion area and all passengers get off.

Children 12 and under can select a pumpkin and take it to a table to decorate it. Games are available for children, including a maze, and face painting is on offer for all ages. The operator expects a food vendor on site. After about 40 minutes, passengers re-board for the trip back to the main depot and parking area.

The operator sells several ways to ride: coach and open-air seats, a Locomotive Experience (maximum two riders), and a caboose for up to ten passengers.
