Satta Pass, Shizuoka — Tōkaidō Main Line, Route 1 & Tōmei Expressway

Satta Pass (さった峠), between Yui and Okitsu in Shizuoka City, is where the main transport arteries of Japan are forced onto a narrow strip between the mountains and Suruga Bay. The city calls this camera angle "交通の要衝" — a key transport chokepoint — and describes it as a view of "Japan's great artery" as it is today.

The camera looks down along the coast: the electrified double track of the JR Tōkaidō Main Line hugs the foot of the cliff on the left, with National Route 1 and the elevated Tōmei Expressway curving beside it over the sea wall.
