This camera watches a grade crossing at mile marker 318.0 on the North Carolina Railroad's Danville District through Lexington, North Carolina — the same corridor Lexington's own Amtrak station sits on, a few blocks away.
The line is operated by Norfolk Southern under lease from the NCRR, and also carries Amtrak's Piedmont and Carolinian trains between Charlotte and points north, even though Lexington's station itself only reopens to passengers once a year, during the Lexington Barbecue Festival in October.
