Clinton, Mississippi — Olde Towne Depot

The Olde Towne Depot is the City of Clinton's depot building on East Leake Street, completed in 2018. In the depot's own words, it "rests under the shade of trees lining the rails upon which trains currently pass". Its design borrows elements of three earlier Clinton stations.

The depot traces the town's railway to 1831, when Mississippi chartered thirty miles of rail between Clinton and Vicksburg, mainly to carry cotton to the river. Federal troops burned the first depot in 1863, and the Hinds County Gazette reported three trains a day through Clinton in July 1879.

The depot calls the stream the Olde Towne Depot Rail Cam, so that "railroad fans and curious Clintonians can now watch the tracks running through Clinton in real time". It does not name the line or the railroad on its pages.
