Corinth, Mississippi grew up around the junction of two railroads — historically the Memphis & Charleston and the Mobile & Ohio — earning the city its nickname as the "Crossroads of the South" during the Civil War. The depot building that now houses the Crossroads Museum was built around 1917 as the Gulf, Mobile and Ohio depot.
Today Norfolk Southern trains run east-west through the diamond outside the depot, while CPKC trains run north-south. The museum holds railroad history displays, a large HO-scale model of the local area, and a railfan viewing platform, and is open Tuesday-Friday 10 a.m.-3 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
