South Norwalk, Connecticut — SoNo Tower, Northeast Corridor

Virtual Railfan describes this location as "Amtrak and Metro-North action on the electrified Northeast Corridor", and places it precisely: "At Milepost 41.3, the Danbury Branch diverges from the NEC." The east-facing fixed view is the one open to everyone on YouTube; a second fixed view, west, is reserved to channel members. The operator states the actual live stream start date as 4 June 2018, and lists no railroad radio frequency for this location ("RAILROAD RADIO FREQUENCIES: N/A").

The camera is hosted by the SoNo Switch Tower Museum and the Slice of Italy Restaurant. The museum occupies the tower itself: a New Haven Railroad signal station at 77 Washington Street that, in the museum's own words, "was placed in service on July 5, 1896 and closed on November 17, 1984." Inside, operators worked 68 "Armstrong" levers of a mechanical interlocking that, again per the museum, "allowed tower operators to route trains through switches on a four-track mainline and onto single-track branches to Danbury and Wilson Point." That interlocking is the reason there is anything to watch here: the junction it controlled is still the junction the camera watches.

The museum opens Saturdays and Sundays, noon to 4 pm, May through October, with no admission fee, and sits a seven-to-ten-minute walk from Metro-North's South Norwalk station.
