About this event
The Gwili Railway runs its Santa Special from Abergwili Junction station in Carmarthen, in partnership with Fox & Edwards Events. The operator presents it as Santa's Steam Train Adventure: a scenic steam train ride through the South Wales countryside in 1950s carriages, departing from and returning to Abergwili Junction.
Santa is on board and every group meets him for photographs. All children aged under 12 receive a plush steam engine from Santa and each child gets a Christmas activity book with a traditional tale. Adults receive a complimentary mince pie, and children a drink and a snack.
Two types of seating are sold, exclusive compartments and open seating. The operator also runs a few bright, multi-coloured illuminated evening trains with Santa on board; everything else about the trip stays the same.
The operator says the trip lasts about 1.5 hours, that advance booking is essential, and lists all ages as welcome.
What to expect
A 1.5-hour steam train trip with Santa on board, a gift for children under 12, an activity book for each child, a mince pie for adults and a drink and snack for children. Some evening trains run as illuminated trains.
